We are living through an incredible moment in our lifetime. Documenting the impact of this crisis on regular people, as it unfolds, is important information. This written record can help us be better prepared for future emergencies, can be used as an archive for historical research and sharing our experiences can unite us even as we are at home self-isolating.
Rockaway Township Public Library, in partnership with the Rockaway Township Historical Society, is collecting the thoughts, feelings and general impact of the COVID-19 Quarantine on Rockaway Township residents of all ages for a historical record of life in Rockaway Township, NJ, circa March-June 2020. The collection will be made available to the public in the near future, and we plan to include a follow-up several months’ post-quarantine.
Between June1 and June 30, we ask those who live or work in Rockaway Township share in 1500 words or less, and/or include a captioned photo, describing their personal experience in response to one or more of the following questions:
• What has surprised you most as this quarantine has unfolded?
• What is your biggest fear?
• What is an unexpected, positive impact of the quarantine?
• What is the most difficult part of the quarantine?
• What are your hopes for the future when this is all over?
All submissions must be accompanied by your first and last name, age and any other information you would like to include such as occupation, school/grade, etc.
